Georgian PM, new ambassador to France review relationship between countries

Dynamics of the existing relationship between Georgia and France and prospects for deepening it were discussed on Thursday in a meeting between the Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Gocha Javakhishvili, the newly appointed ambassador to France.
Garibashvili congratulated Javakhishvili on his appointment to the new position and wished him success in his work, the government administration said.
Javakhishvili’s latest appointment follows a range of diplomatic experience, with the envoy contributing to the discussions for transferring the historical Leuville estate near Paris to Georgia over the recent years.
He has received the French National Order of Honour and the Order of Academic Palms for his work.
Georgia’s former ambassador to France, Tea Katukia, submitted her resignation letter to the foreign minister in May.
Georgian diplomat Gocha Javakhishvili has been appointed as Georgia’s new ambassador to France, the foreign ministry confirmed to agenda.ge on Tuesday.
The main areas of cooperation between the countries and the European perspective granted by the European Council to Georgia in June were discussed on Saturday in the meeting between the Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and Isabelle Dumont, the diplomatic advisor of the French president.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Thursday welcomed the “particularly close and friendly” relations based on “mutual trust, respect and common European values” between Georgia and France in his message congratulating the French people on their National Day.
France’s Leuville Estate returned to Georgia after 89 years (MAP)
An important historic milestone for Georgia was reached in France earlier today when a document was signed officially transferring the Leuville Estate back to Georgia after 89 years.
The Georgian Culture Ministry on Tuesday said its employees had completed the process of inventorying the Leuville estate and commenced sorting archive materials, kept by the former owners for decades in the chateau attic, for transferring to the library.
Gotcha Javakhishvili, Georgia’s newly appointed Ambassador to France, on Thursday stressed “a lot of work” was being done for restoring the historic Leuville estate in the country and its items of historical significance, in a response to a social media post that appeared to show photographs of disorderly conditions and negligence over items at the venue on Monday.
