Matters of cooperation and partnership between Georgia and France were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between the Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili and French ambassador Diego Colas, as the latter’s term representing his country in Georgia is coming to a close.

The meeting noted France’s status as a “friend and reliable partner” whose “firm stance” over Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and its support for the policy of non-recognition of the Russian-occupied territories of Georgia are appreciated, the government administration said.

The officials also noted the role of France as the largest international donor to Georgia over the years in terms of democratic reforms, institutional modernisation and socio-economic development.

In the farewell meeting, the head of the government thanked the French diplomat for his contribution to deepening relations between the two countries.
