The investigation service of the ministry of finance of Georgia has arrested two individuals for misappropriation of state-owned property through fraud, the state body announced on Tuesday.
In its statement, the body said the offenders had fraudulently registered three 1,300-square-metre land plots over the last few years in the village of Gldani in the outskirts of capital Tbilisi, causing about ₾150,126 (about $52,965) in material damage.
The service said a criminal prosecution against 11 other individuals had been launched as part of the same case.
The crime is punishable up to nine years in prison.
