Georgian law enforcers have arrested a 35-year-old man in the Black Sea coastline city of Batumi for premeditated murders of two people in eastern Georgia’s Kakheti province earlier this month.
Police said the detained individual had shot a couple at a farm in the Telavi Municipality of the province on February 10, after they refused his demands of handing over cash. The interior ministry has also released footage of his detention in Batumi.
Authorities said the investigation had showed the arrested assailant having had used a hunting rifle in the murders, before tying up the couple’s daughter and fleeing from the scene.
The arrested man is charged both with the two murders and restriction of freedom of a minor. The crimes are punishable up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
