Georgian Justice Minister Rati Bregadze discussed cooperation in the field of criminal law and digital exchange of information at a Ministerial Meeting of European Union member state justice ministers alongside his Ukrainian and Moldovan counterparts on Tuesday in Prague.

Bregadze highlighted the “good experience” of cooperation with EU member states in the field of criminal law and noted the format of cooperation included both bilateral relations and active participation in joint activities against crime, as organised within the framework of the EU  Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation, the Justice Ministry said.

The Minister noted Georgia would “actively” participate in the initiative of implementing cooperation by electronic means if EU member states expressed interest, and added the country already had experience in the field through its use of platforms for electronic signatures and digital exchange of documents “for years”.

Bregadze also said effectiveness and strengthening of e-services had become “even more relevant” in the light of ongoing war in Ukraine, which showed the importance of creating “additional tools” for electronic communications and services with non-EU countries.
