Georgia will provide comprehensive answers to the questionnaire for its European Union membership bid, Irakli Kadagishvili, the Chairman of the Rules and Procedural Issues Committee of the Parliament, said on Monday.

Kadagishvili said he hoped the discussion about relevant reforms would be “working [and] objective” and based on specific legislation and decisions approved by the country’s Government.

Georgia will provide comprehensive answers to the questionnaire for the EU membership bid. If this process is devoid of a political component, and the discussion deals with the real analysis and assessment of what the country's legal framework and reform base is, it will be of the best service for the further development of this country,” the Parliament official said.

The Georgian Government will receive the European Union membership questionnaire, the next step in its process of application to join the Union, today from Oliver Varhelyi, the European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement.

The EU official said the questionnaire would help the European Commission to prepare opinions on EU applications of the applicant countries.
