Georgian weightlifter and Olympic champion Lasha Talakhadze has triumphed in the European Senior Weightlifting Championship in Moscow by receiving three gold medals and breaking the European and world records.

The Georgian Weightlifting Federation has announced that Talakhadze has improved his own records with 211/ 217/ 222 kg in snatch and 245/ 253/263 kg in clean and jerk. He finished the championship with the combined results of 485 kg.

Last year the record-breaking Georgian athlete earned his third straight Best Male Lifter title in an International Weightlifting Federation poll with 'overwhelming' number of votes and taking the latest honour for his competitive performances.
Talakhadze is also the recipient of the President's Order of Excellence of Georgia for his achievements at the 2016 Olympic Games and earned Georgia's Sportsperson of the Year title in 2017 and 2018.

Overall, Georgian athletes have grabbed a total of eight gold, four silver and one bronze medal in the Russian capital of Moscow, which hosted the 2021 European weightlifting championship on April 3-11.
