A trial into the high-profile murder case of Georgian citizen of Chechen origin Zelimkhan Khangoshvili has continued in Berlin.

Germany has accused Russia of ordering the murder of the former Chechen rebel Khangoshvili in Berlin back in 2019.

An employee of the British investigative journalist website Bellingcat has been interrogated who claims that the wife of the murder suspect was also connected with the case.

He said that the suspect Vadim Krasikov’s wife and child were sent from Moscow to Crimea by Russian FSB shortly after the murder with fake passports.

Germany accused Russia of ordering the murder of Khangoshvili in 2019.

The 40-year-old man was shot dead in August 2019 in Berlin's Kleiner Tiergarten park.

A Russian national identified as Vadim Krasikov has been charged with the murder.

In December 2019 Germany expelled two Russian diplomats due to the case, with Russia responding by expelling two German diplomats.

Russian top officials, who claim Khangoshvili was a terrorist, have dismissed Russia’s connection with the murder.
