Gov’t to give additional time to vendors to use cash registers

The Georgian government is expected to postpone the date of obligatory use of cash registers at open markets, considering the economic complications created by the coronavirus pandemic.
The vendors had had an obligation to use cash registers starting January 1,2022.
However, in accordance with amendments planned in the country’s tax code, the date will be postponed for one year.
Vendors at all open markets in Georgia will undergo mandatory PCR (polymerase chain reaction) testing for the coronavirus in the coming days, as five employees of the open air Lilo Market in Tbilisi tested positive for the virus several days ago.
The Jvari Monastery, which was closed on Monday by its clerics “due to the insanitary conditions and disorder” created by vendors near the site, has reopened to visitors.
Parish and tourists have not been allowed today to enter the Jvari Monastery in the town of Mtskheta today. The Georgian Patriarchate says that the reason for the temporary measure is “disorder created by vendors” at the entrance to the historic place.
