Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili and Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic have discussed the geopolitical condition of the two countries at the meeting earlier today and noted that despite the differences between Georgia and Montenegro the countries have a lot of similarities.
We have come to the common conclusion that more EU involvement is important in the Western Balkans as well as in the Caucasus,” Zurabishvili stated.
President Djukanovic is paying an official visit to Georgia for the first time in the history of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Montenegro which was established in 2007.

President Zurabishvili also provided her counterpart with information on the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and noted that called it a ‘daily pressure’ for the Georgian population.
Despite the occupation, we continue on the path to European integration without changing our position,” stated Zurabishvili.
President Djukanovic reiterated Montenegro’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders.
The president of Montenegro during his visit on October 7-8 will lay a wreath at the memorial to the heroes who died in the fight for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and will meet with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
