150 individuals rescued from drowning in Georgia’s Black Sea region of Adjara this summer

Georgian rescuers have saved a total of 150 individuals from drowning in Georgia’s Black Sea region of  Adjara this summer, reports the Emergency Management Service (EMS).

Five rescuers – Giorgi Sakheishvili, Zuriko Chkhartishvili, Giorgi Velijanashvili, Irakli Goguadze, and Ia Okropiridze have been awarded for outstanding bravery today.

At the risk of putting their own lives, health and safety in danger they saved others from drowning”, reads an official statement of the EMS.

The Emergency Management Service urges the public to obey the instructions of rescuers during vacations and to follow the safety rules as much as possible.

The EMC reminds the public once again that:

  •  It is strictly forbidden to enter the water during storms
  • Children should not be left alone or without attention on the beach and in the water
  • It is forbidden to enter the water while drunk
