Miners in the western Georgian town of Chiatura are on strike demanding a pay increase of 50% of their salaries.
The miners have been offered 250 GEL increase in May, however, they do not consider that enough.
If our demand is not fulfilled we will continue the peaceful strike and stay as we are”, Interpressnews agency cited Besik Kapanadze, one of the miners.
Kapanadze said that as of now all of the mines have been suspended. The miners plan to continue their strike until their demands are fulfilled.
