The State Inspector’s Service of Georgia has arrested two employees of the Department for the Protection of the Objects under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for abuse of power against soldiers in compulsory military service.
The Investigation Department of the State Inspector's Service launched an investigation into the criminal case on July 29, 2020.
The investigation was initiated by the General Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Office of the Public Defender.
"The investigation revealed that the shift heads of the Combat Training and Retraining Division of the Department of Defence of the Ministry of Internal Affairs exceeded their official authority, used methods of punishment prohibited by law, violated the dignity of the soldiers in compulsory military service and damaged the legitimate interests of the state", states the State Inspector's Service of Georgia.
