Several new restrictions have been placed on public transport in Tbilisi to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

Starting tomorrow, entrance onto buses will be available from the back door only, as the passenger cabin and driver’s area will be separated to keep drivers safe from coronavirus.

Conductors will no longer work on Tbilisi buses to keep them safe from the new coronavirus, and they will be given paid leave.

The decision is temporary and was announced earlier today by the Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

I want to urge our fellow citizens to avoid public places and avoid travel in the city unless there it is a necessity,” said Kaladze.

Kaladze said that the metros and buses are being sanitized every day.
