Georgia has scored 61 points in the Freedom in the World 2020 report by Freedom House, an annual global report on political rights and civil liberties, covering developments in 195 countries and 15 territories between January 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019.

In the report in which zero describes the least free state and 100 the most free states, Georgia retained the status of a partially free state.

Last year Georgia’s score was 63, while in 2018 it was 64.

Freedom House found that 2019 was the 14th consecutive year of decline in global freedom. The gap between setbacks and gains widened compared with 2018, as individuals in 64 countries experienced deterioration in their political rights and civil liberties while those in just 37 experienced improvements,” the report reads.

The 2020 Georgia country report by Freedom House will be released in the coming days.
