Individuals placed in quarantine or self-isolation for two weeks amid the coronavirus outbreak will be compensated by their employers per an order released by Georgia’s Ministry of Health, reports the press office of the Ministry.

[These individuals] are not able to get special documents given out by doctors. So, the Ministry of Health has decided to issue electronic documents which will be verified by our monitoring service”, said Ekaterine Adamia, the Head of Public Health Care and Programs Division of the Health Care Department.

Adamia said that 97 individuals remain under quarantine throughout Georgia, and will be under the supervision of medics for two weeks.  92 other citizens, who had recently traveled in Iran or Italy or contacted with people who recently returned from these countries, are in self-isolation in order to avoid the risk of spreading the new coronavirus Covid-19.

As of now, 19 individuals remain in Tbilisi Hospital of Infectious Disease, with three cases of coronavirus detection.

Medics say that the patients’ health condition is satisfactory for now.

Georgian citizens have been recommended to temporarily avoid travelling to China, Iran, South Korea and Italy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
