The Russian-controlled Tskhinvali has closed the so-called “border” with the rest of Georgia and over 60 other countries to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

Starting March 1, 2020 citizens of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Great Britain, Japan, Canada, Lithuania, Romania, France and other countries will not be able to enter the “republic”, reported the so called foreign ministry of Tskhinvali.

However, Russia is not in the list of countries from which entering Tskhinvali is prohibited.

De facto Tskhinvali closed the last crossing point connecting the region with the rest of Georgia last week.

Authorities announced the closure of Kartsmani crossing point in Sachkhere municipality ‘to prevent the spread of coronavirus.’
