Construction of flats for eco-migrant families living in Batumi ‘slums’ begins

The construction of flats for eco-migrant families living in slum-like conditions in Batumi’s so-called ‘Dream Town’ began earlier today.

Georgian Prime Minister attended the opening ceremony of the construction process and said that the process will take one and a half years.

He noted that 582 flats will be built for eco-migrant families.

The main goal of the Georgian government as well the main goal of the Adjara government  today is to make this country a country of opportunities for children…these children should have a possibility to live in dignity,” said Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia earlier today at the opening ceremony of the construction.

Gakharia also said that the construction of a school and kindergarten will start in 2021.

We will do everything to ensure that not even one person or family will remain homeless,” said Chairman of the Government of Adjara Tornike Rijvadze.

Gakharia noted that 38 million GEL ($13.4 mln/€12.5 mln) has been allocated from the budget for this project.
