A porcupine, which escaped from Tbilisi Zoo yesterday, was returned by police officers, reports Radio Liberty.
The animal was found wandering near Heroes Square late at night on January 5.
It seems the porcupine dug a hole in the ground and crawled out,” said Tbilisi Zoo Director Zurab Gurielidze to Radio Liberty.
Gurielidze explained that despite being covered in large spikes, the porcupine is a harmless animal, living in the suburbs of Tbilisi and sometimes even wandering around settled areas, for example, near Tbilisi Sea.
Today, there are three porcupines living in the Tbilisi Zoo.
