Economy Minister: over 130 mln GEL earned from privatising buildings this year

Over 130 mln GEL has been earned from privatising buildings this year which is 12 million GEL more compared to 2019, said Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava earlier today.
Out of the earnings from privatisation, more than 95 million GEL was transferred to the budget.
We have very serious plans for the future. Privatisation next year will be one of the incentives that will restore our economy”, said Turnava.
She said that 115 buildings have been sold under the programme '100 New Investment Offers to Business', initiated by the Economy Ministry and National Agency of State Property while there are ongoing auctions for 130 other state buildings.
Turnava noted that 67 million GEL was the total starting price of all the buildings put up for auction under this programme while after selling the total earnings reached 84 million GEL.
The government should start thinking about the privatisation of state-owned enterprises, said Acting Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia earlier today in parliament, noting that this does not apply to strategic companies.
Over 120 million GEL has been earned from the privatisation of state buildings in 2020 despite reduced business activity amid pandemic, said Georgian Acting Economy Minister Natia Turnava earlier today.
The Georgian Economy Ministry is offering natural resources for privatisation in addition to other state-owned assets offered through the “100 investment projects for business” program, said Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia at a government meeting earlier today.
One of the main priorities for the Ministry of Economy in 2020 is the privatisation process of state property and the goal is to increase the privatisation income in the state budget, said the Georgian Minister of Economy Natia Turnava today.
Privatisation sales have brought over ₾127.5 million ($43.3mln/€40.9mln) to the Georgian state budget in the first two quarters of this year, the National Agency of State Property announced on Tuesday.
A new study by Transparency International Georgia has revealed “insufficient transparency” in the privatisation of state property in the country throughout the years, and pointed at corruption risks in the process.
