Georgian epic poem ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin’ translated into Hindi

The iconic 12th century poem by famous Georgian author Shota Rustaveli The Knight in the Panther’s Skin has been translated into Hindi.

The idea of translating and publishing the poem was presented by Archil Dzuliashvili, the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of India.

The presentation of the newly translated poem was held online within the Jaipur Book Festival 2020.

From the very first day of my arrival in India, I was motivated to introduce the brilliance of Georgian literature to Indian readers, and today, I am pleased to announce that one of the greatest masterpieces of the Georgian literature, The Knight in the Panther’s Skin has been translated in Hindi. This is a poem with its universal values that describes the struggle between light and dark”, said Dzuliashvili during the online presentation.

The poem was translated into Hindi by the Indian poet, professor and translator Bhupinder Aziz Parihar.
