232,000 tonnes of grapes have been processed in the Kakheti region as of October 2, but the process still continues until mid-October.
293,800 tonnes were processed in 2019 in Georgia, while the number was 259,900 tonnes in 2018, says the data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia.
About 5,000-6,000 tonnes of grapes are processed daily in Kakheti this grape harvest season, says the National Wine Agency of Georgia.
Out of the processed grapes, 158,000 tonnes were of the Rkatsiteli variety, 61,400 tonnes were Saperavi, while 4,000 tonnes were Kakhuri Mtsvane.
23,000 winegrowers handed over grapes to wineries in Kakheti, whose income reached 242 million GEL.
The grapes have been processed by 180 wine companies, says the agency.
