Georgian wines win gold, silver medals at Poland wine championship

Georgian wines have taken gold and silver medals at the International Rose Championship 2020 in Poland, announces the National Wine Agency of Georgia.

Georgian wines were presented by the Polish contractor organisation of the agency Malinova.

There were 220 wines from 28 countries presented at the championship.

The success of Georgian wine in such a prestigious international competition indicates its high quality and further increases the awareness of Georgian wine worldwide, which is especially important against the background of the global pandemic of the Covid-19 virus, which, like many countries around the world, has affected the Georgian wine industry,” says the agency.

The wines which took gold were: Iberieli - “Zurab Topuridze Chkhaveri (Guria) – 2018”, Cellar Dimna (Imereti) – “Dzelshavi 2017”.

“Zurab Topuridze Chkhaveri (Guria) – 2018“ also received a special prize in the best wines category. 

The wines which took silver were: Telavi Wine Cellar - Tskriala Rose (Kakheti) -2019,“ “Saperavi Rose (Kakheti) – 2019,” and “Lapati wines,”and “kidev erti pet-nati (Kartli) – 2016.”

The judges were Master of Wine Elizabeth Gabay and 12 of the best experts from seven different countries.
