Georgia exports strawberries, blueberries to USA

Georgian company Glenberry, which was created with the support of the state, has exported 20 tonnes of Georgian strawberries and blueberries to the USA this year.

Glenberry is one of the businesses based on which we can forecast the perspectives of development in agriculture in Georgia and how the Georgian government’s decisions affect farmers,” said Deputy Agriculture Minister Giorgi Khinashvili.

Khinashvili noted that the company has been exporting its produce from Georgia to international markets since last year.

The company Glenberry is located in the village of Kvenatkotsa, Kareli Municipality, and was established within the state-run United Agro Project.

In total, 5 million GEL has been invested in the business out of which 600,000 GEL is a grant, and the rest was invested by the beneficiary.

The company was established in 2018, and it employs 150 locals.  

The company has an International Food Safety Standard - ISO 22000 compliance certificate.

Since 2013, more than 200 companies have been financed under the state United Agro Project.
