A total of 220 million GEL (about $72,358,900) will be spent on the construction and renovation of schools throughout Georgia by fall 2021, said Georgian Infrastructure Minister Maia Tskitishvili.

Seven new schools are being built in eastern Kakheti region now. One of them is a new school for 90 children in the village of Bodbe. The children had to go to schools in neighboring villages due to the ruined school building. Soon they will be able to get an education in their own village. The Infrastructure Ministry has planned to build 59 new schools and reconstruct 85 schools throughout Georgia. The construction of 20 schools is underway for now and will be completed in September”, Tskitishvili said.

Tskitishvili noted that the renovation of school infrastructure is one of the main priorities for the ministry.

Each school will have its laboratories, libraries, cafeterias and doctors’ offices. New school buildings will be adapted for people with special needs.
