Georgia and Italy are teaming up to fight economic and financial crime, announces the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
The Investigation Service of Georgia and the Financial Guard of the Italian Republic signed a memorandum of understanding today.
The memorandum includes not only combating economic and financial crime, but also the exchange of information and the improvement of staff qualifications.

Within the memorandum, we will be able to deepen cooperation in all fields that will help to eliminate crime and protect the financial and economic interests of Georgia and Italy”, said head of Georgia’s Investigation Service Soso Ramishvili.
The Investigation Service also announced that General Commander of the Financial Guard of the Italian Republic Giorgio Toschi will visit Georgia.
Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia is on an official visit to Sweden. Meeting with the Minister for Justice and Home Affairs Morgan Johansson the two ministers discussed variety of issues including strengthening fight against organized and property crimes.
Georgia and Europol are expanding joint efforts to better deal with different types of crime. Georgian Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia and Europol's Director Rob Wainwright have signed a Liaison Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding on secure communication line protocol.
Amendments to Georgia’s Tax and Criminal Codes have just come into play, with the main goal to decriminalise economic crime and liberalise the tax code in order to further develop the Georgian economy.
From now on the Ministry of Corrections will send convicts for different crimes in separate cells.
