Georgia hosted 247,705 tourists in February 2019, showing an increase of 5.1% year-on-year (y/y) announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).
The countries with the most significant increase were:
- Israel (+198.4%)
- China (+52%)
- Saudi Arabia (+48.6%)
A positive trend was maintained by visitors from the European Union:
- Latvia (+111.1%)
- Slovakia (+84.8%)
- Poland (+76.7%)
- Lithuania (+46.1%)
- The Czech Republic (+41.6%)
- Italy (+34.8%)
During January-February of 2019 Georgia hosted 553,644, that is 5.5% year-on-year increase, says the GNTA.
How did Georgia benefit from more visitors?
In January 2019 international tourism revenue reached $164.5 million that is $8 million more compared to the same month of 2018.
About $3.2 billion was generated from tourism in Georgia in 2018, which was $498 million more compared to 2017, said the GNTA.
Meanwhile, in all of 2017 international tourism revenue reached $2.7billion, which was $594 million more compared to 2016.
More than eight million international, non-resident travellers came to Georgia in 2018, the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat) reported today.
Foreign tourists spent $164.5 million in Georgia last month, which is five times more than the income received in the same month of the last year, the Georgian National Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Economy of Georgia has reported.

Most visitors from Russia
Georgia hosted 2,697,624 tourists (+8%) and 4,961,918 international travellers (+7.8%) in January-July 2019, announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA). Most visitors came from
Russia (+22.1%), Azerbaijan (+5.6%), Armenia (+2.9%) and Turkey (-0.3%).
Georgia has hosted over nine million international travelers this year, which is 7.1 percent more compared to last year, announced the head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) Mariam Kvrivishvili today. $3.051 billion was generated from international tourism in Georgia in January-November 2019, which was $35 million more compared to the same period of 2018, shows the data of GNTA.
