Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze has met with US senators Jeanne Shaheen and Ron Johnson to discuss bilateral relations at the Munich Security Conference.
Had a great meeting with @JeanneShaheen and @SenRonJohnson. #Georgians are very grateful for having such dedicated friends in the #US #Congress and enjoying strong bipartisan support for our territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

PM Bakhtadze thanked the senators for their support for Georgia and emphasised that a bill drafted by five senators, Jeanne Shaheen among them, is a clear demonstration of this support.
The bill provides tougher sanctions against Russia for its illegal activities in Ukraine, Georgia and for its support of the violent regime of Bashar-al-Assad in Syria. It also seeks to increase economic, political, and diplomatic pressure on Russia.
The two senators and PM Bakhtadze have also discussed the difficult situation in Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia), the two Russian occupied regions of Georgia. The parties touched on the issue of human rights violations in those regions.
Senators Shaheen and Johnson have reaffirmed their support to Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
We always consider plans and actions of Russia, willing to have an answer on them,” Senator Ron Johnson.
They have also praised Georgia's progress in terms of democratic reforms, economic development and Euro-Atlantic integration.
There is a strong bipartisan support for Georgia in the US Senate, which we have once again reaffirmed to the Prime Minister of the country. We are glad to see continued changes in Georgia,” Senator Shaheen said.
