One detained for attempted murder of first president’s son, four - for not reporting crime

Police have detained one for the attempted premeditated murder of Tsotne Gamsakhurdia, the son of the first president of Georgia, Zviad Gamsakhurdia, and four others for not reporting the crime.

Investigation established that on December 19, an individual, identified as T.Gh, who has been detained for the attempted premeditated murder, “inflicted several injuries with a sharp object to Tsotne Gamsakhurdia on the ground of the verbal assault that resulted into confrontation and fled from the crime scene”. 

The incident took place on Gali Street, Tbilisi near to the victims residing place. The ambulance crew transferred Tsotne Gamsakhurdia to the hospital where he underwent immediate surgery”, Deputy Interior Minister Vladimer Bortsvadze announced yesterday.

He further noted that the individuals, accused of the attempted murder and not reporting the crime, were detained by the law enforcers as a result of the immediate investigative activities, several hours after the crime took place.

Attempted premeditated murder is punishable by seven to 15 years imprisonment, while not reporting the crime is punishable by three to seven years.
