Georgia’s Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will launch internationally accredited Electronic Engineering and Chemistry bachelor programmes from 2020, TSU rector George Shervashidze announced today.

These programs are being implemented in partnership with US San Diego University.

The Georgian Government and US San Diego University signed a memorandum in July 2014 to implement American Bachelor programmes in Georgian universities as a part of the US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) second compact for Georgia.

At the first stage, Georgian State University offers two internationally accredited programs for the 2020-21 academic year:

  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Sciences
  • Chemistry/Biochemistry

Shervashidze noted that the ‘state university will be able to train engineers of the same international quality as leading American universities do’.

These programmes are especially important as there is great demand for such professionals on the labour market”, said Shervashidze.

He added that graduates of TSU will also be able to work abroad after graduation from these internationally accredited programmes.
