The Georgian Defence Forces have 225 new servicemen now, who pledged their allegiance on Saint George's Day today.

The recruits have gone through a ten-week preparatory training program to develop the necessary skills in tactics, communication, medicine, as well as study disciplinary regulations.

Now they will serve within various units for a four-year term.
Today Georgians mark Independence Day, commemorating May 26, 1918 – the day when the Act of Independence was adopted, establishing the First Democratic Republic of Georgia. 463 recruits have taken their oaths today in Tbilisi, Zugdidi, Racha, Kartli and Dusheti.
The Georgian Armed Forces (GAF) welcomed the first round of newcomers for compulsory military service today.
