Head of the Adjara region government Tornike Rizhvadze has announced that tangerines will be exported to new markets in several EU member states this year.

We have traditional markets where we export tangerines annually. However, we have plans to export the product to several new markets in the EU this year", Rizhvadze stated today while opening an office which will improve coordination between farmers and the factories which will receive the product to then export it.

He said that the office, which will work until February 1, 2020, will also facilitate the distribution of state subsidiaries to farmers producing tangerines.

Rizhvadze says that 50-55,000 thousand tonnes of tangerines are expected this year, adding that up to 30 factories will receive the product, sort it and then export it abroad.
