Georgian PM: German president’s visit confirms Germany sees Georgia as a reliable ally

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia says that the visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Georgia confirms that the country perceives Georgia as a reliable partner.

Germany’s support for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration carries huge importance. Your visit confirms that Germany takes Georgia as a reliable partner,” Gakharia told Steinmeier during a meeting earlier today, the government of Georgia press office reports.

The press office cited Steinmeier as saying that Georgia is a leading country in terms of economic reforms.

Gakharia and Steinmeier discussed the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia. Gakharia stated that it is important the western partners of Georgia raise the issue at international formats and their bilateral formats with Russia,” the press office stated.

Gakharia thanked Germany for its involvement in the European Union Monitoring Mission and the support for the implementation of the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package.

Steinmeier has already met with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili.
