Georgia has new ambassadors to Ukraine, Vatican, Kuwait

Georgia has new ambassadors to Ukraine, the Vatican and Kuwait, all of them with years of experience in diplomacy, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reports.

The new ambassadors are:

  • Teimuraz Sharashenidze – Ukraine.
  • Konstantine Zhgenti – Kuwait.
  • Ketevan Bagration-Mukhranbatoni –  the Vatican.

Sharashenidze is a career diplomat, having held various positions since 1996, which includes serving as Georgia’s ambassador to Bulgaria between 2004 and 2008 and most recently as ambassador to Azerbaijan between 2011 and 2018.

Jgenti has also held several diplomatic positions, one of the first of which as Georgia’s envoy to Italy in 1997-2000.

He later served as Georgia’s ambassador to Austria and Hungary between 2004 and 2006 and as ambassador to Uzbekistan between 2013 and 2018.

French-born Bagration-Mukhranbatoni has a long history of involvement in Georgian-Italian diplomatic relations, having served as Georgia’s ambassador to the Vatican between 2004 and 2014. 

Since 1991 she has organised various Italian–Georgian cultural events and directed several humanitarian projects for Georgia.

Bagration-Mukhranbatoni became an honorary citizen of Georgia in 1995 and was granted dual citizenship in 2004.
