Fast and Furious 9 filming has started in Tbilisi, movement to be restricted on Rustaveli Avenue

Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue will be restricted starting today until September 1, due to the scheduled shooting of a part of the Hollywood movie Fast and Furious 9, announces Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Starting August 26 from 23:00 pm traffic will be restricted from Freedom Square to the former Post Office building. 

The flow of traffic coming from Avlabari will run through the Baratashvili Bridge to Liberty Square, as well as from Orbeliani Square to Tabukashvili Street.

Transport moving from the Rustaveli Metro area will be able to move to the former Post Office building and continue moving to the direction of the Republic Square. Transport moving on the Upper Vera will use the Griboedov and Barnovi streets to cross Rustaveli Avenue.

Police will regulate the flow of vehicles to avoid difficulties and if necessary patrol inspectors will inform drivers about alternative routes.

The shooting of the 10-minute segment for Hollywood film Fast and Furious 9 started on August 19, and is planned to end on September 20. 

Therefore, the following streets are temporarily closed in Tbilisi and Rustavi, a town close to the capital:

  • August 18-27: Vazha Pshavela Avenue
  • August 26-September 3: Rustaveli Avenue
  • August 30-September 8: Rustavi Market adjacent territory
  • September 7: Freedom Square and Pushkini Street
  • September 8-16: Nutsubidze 4th Plateau
  • September 16:University Street
