Euronews and Georgian telecommunication provider Silknet have signed a deal earlier today on the creation of Euronews Georgia.

Euronews Georgia will be a new Georgian information channel and digital platform, with Georgian and international news in Georgian. It is scheduled to start broadcasting in a year time.

Euronews will ensure the independence of editorial policy and appoint an editor of the new channel, compose its editorial council and control its activities,” Silknet says.

Silknet states that the new media will release its content in line with high, international standard, which “will be another opportunity for Georgians to have access to unbiased information.”

Since its launch in 1993 in Lyon, France, Euronews has developed the world's first “glocal” news brand - the first global media ‘that adapts itself to the expectation of its multiple local audiences,’ Euronews says.

With a team of 600 journalists of more than 30 different nationalities, Euronews’ 12 editions cover world news 24/7 in Arabic, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
