Passenger traffic up by 18.24% at Georgian airports in Jan-June 2019

Georgia’s three international airports served 2,489,823 passengers in January-June 2019, which is a 18.24% increase in comparison to last year, says the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.

The number of passengers who took regular or charter flights in Georgia increased in all three main airports of the country: Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi Aleksandre Kartveli International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport.

More specifically:

  • Tbilisi International Airport served 1,870,082 passengers - a 11.64% increase y/y
  • Kutaisi International Airport served 364,834 passengers – 55.40% increase
  • Batumi International Airport served 247,391 passengers – 30.01% increase

Georgia’s rural airports also saw an increase in passenger numbers in the first six months of 2019.

Queen Tamar Airport in Mestia, Svaneti region, served 3,477 passengers in January-June, which was a 32.41% increase y/y.

Meanwhile, Ambrolauri airport in Georgia’s Racha region, which received passengers for the first time in 2017, served 599 passengers (+45.38%) in the reporting period.
