#SpendYourSummerinGeorgia: summer season opens in mountainous Georgia

Georgian winter wonderlands are being transformed into a hot summer destination, inviting the visitors to cool summer days in fresh air and green environment.

Starting with popular ski resort of Gudauri summer season will gradually be opened in all mountainous resorts of Georgia.

Tomorrow Gudauri will officially open the summer season, where all gondolas, including newly opened Kobi-Gudauri cable car, will serve the passengers every day from 10:00 to 18:00.

Another famous winter destination Bakuriani is inviting people to spend summer days there starting July 1. Also in Bakuriani, cable cars will work every day from 11:00 to 18:00.The first mountain sled track in the South Caucasus also known as a toboggan opened in 2016 which is located on Didveli slope will be among Bakuriani’s major attractions this year as well.

The visitors will also be able to visit cinema Bakuriani which will offer movie premieres every week.

Both resorts offer about 6,000 meters long bicycle tracks for those interested.

In order to find out what the current situation is in the mountainous resorts of Gudauri, Bakuriani, Goderdzi and Svaneti, people can download mobile application Mountain Resorts of Georgia, launched last year.

Georgian authorities also claiming that overall the country is a safe destination for travellers from any country, including Russia. Accent on Russian tourists was made after the warnings for them from Russian authorities that travelling to Georgia is no longer safe for them.

In response a social a social campaign under the hashtag #VisitGeorgia and #SpendYourSummerinGeorgia started in Georgia where Georgians as well as foreign visitors share their personal experience of travelling in the country and inviting everyone to support the tourism industry by travelling to Georgia this year.

Foreign embassies in Georgia have also joined the campaign and are promoting the country as a tourism destination, sharing their personal experience of travelling in Georgia on their Twitter accounts.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia is posting videos on the Twitter account that shows tourism attractions of Georgia and claiming that the government does its utmost two ensure Georgia is one of the safest places in Europe.
