Tbilisi Court of Appeals has ruled that a spouse or parent’s speaking negatively of another parent in the presence of children is psychological violence.
A woman sued the father of her children for speaking negatively about her in the presence of their children, which made them stressed and frightened.
The mother said that her children were under psychological pressure, which made them nervous, anxious and frightened, and the woman was asking for a restraining order against the father of her children,” NGO Partnership for Human Rights reports.
The NGO says that the man warned the children against reporting his words, and that if they did so their parents would never be together again.
The NGO says that the Interior Ministry issued the restraining order, which was appealed by the father of the children.
The court annulled the order.
The woman, with the help of the NGO, appealed the verdict to the Court of Appeals and won the case.
The father of the children will have no right to have any contact with his children for 30 days.
