PM says Georgia will become regional leader in medical services

“I believe Georgia will become a regional leader in providing medical services,” Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze said at Tbilisi State Medical University where regional representation of International Association for Medical Education (AMEE) has opened.
PM Bakhtadze stated Georgia is becoming an international centre of medical education, which is an important step for its European integration.
Tbilisi State Medical University will be the third AMEE regional centre which will also cover the south-east part of Europe,” Bakhtadze said.
Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze noted Georgia can offer a wide range of medical services worth two billion adding medical education is a very important tradition and focus on future for the Georgian nation.
The AMEE international cooperation centre in Georgia will be mainly aimed at sharing modern education methodologies, conducting trainings for academic and administrative staff of regional medical institutions, medical education experts and others.
The Georgian government has taken on responsibility to provide “unprecedented support” for education in the country and invest one-fourth of the state budget for educational goals, Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze stated earlier today during the presentation of the government initiative: Education - Way to Freedom.
A education and science town complex will be built in Georgia’s Black Sea resort town of Batumi, announced Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze today. The modern multi-functional complex includes laboratories, a library, a science museum, conference halls, indoor recreational space, sports halls, outdoor stadiums and a living campus.
Georgian Education Minister Mikheil Batiashvili has stated that the salaries of senior, leader or mentor teachers will increase from September 2019, while the teachers in their pension age will be able to receive two–year salary in advance, if they decide to leave.
A workshop for teachers titled ‘Teacher – Guide to Europe’ has opened during European Days and 150 teachers from across Georgia are participating.
