By-elections 2019: 67,217 people have voted by 12 p.m.

A total of 67,217 people have cast their ballots in today’s by-elections four hours since the polling stations opened, announces the Central Election Commission.

The lowest voter turnout – 10.4% - has been observed in the Mtatsminda constituency by 12 p.m. where 4,568 people have voted by 12 p.m.

Meanwhile, the highest turnout was observed in Sagarejo Municipality reaching 35.7% with 163 voters.

The voter turnout in other election districts by 12 p.m. was the following:

  • Akhmeta – 225 voters (18,4 percent)
  • Marneuli – 13,957 voters (14 percent)
  • Zestaponi – 9,048 voters (16,5 percent)
  • Chiatura – 7,545 voters (17,6 percent)
  • Tkibuli – 630 voters (17,7 percent)
  • Tskaltubo – 935 voters (22,2 percent)
  • Ozurgeti – 904 voters (17,8 percent)
  • Zugdidi – 24,282 voters (20,1 percent)
  • Khulo – 4,700 voters (19,5 percent)

Central Election Spokeswoman Ana Mikeladze reported on complaints brought to election commissions in constituencies.

She said 24 complaints have been introduced so far:

  • 13 complaints – in Zugdidi
  • 7 complaints – in Marneuli
  • 1 complaint – in Zestaponi
  • 3 complaints – in Khulo

Mikeladze said the complaints generally refer to procedural issues.

Earlier, she said observers and members of political party have taken voters’ ID cards and wrote down their data, which is a violation and  reminded the voters they have no obligation to hand over ID cards to anyone except to election commission staff.
