The Georgian Chief Prosecutor’s Office has returned a hospital building located in the Zugdidi region of western Georgia to its legal owners, which was illegally seized in 2007 under the previous United National Movement (UNM) leadership.
Shareholders of the LTD Enguri Medical Complex, which owned the hospital building, were forced to gift the building to the state, otherwise they would be imprisoned,” the Prosecutor’s Office said.
The office also addressed the Tbilisi Court of Appeals to recheck the case of two other individuals, who were found guilty of fraud in 2012, also under the UNM leadership.
The office stated that Gia Tchantchaleishvili and Roman Chkhaidze were accused of appropriation of state-owned land in Tbilisi, while the two owned the lands legally.
The Prosecutor’s Office says that its department created in 2015 to investigate offences committed in the course of legal proceedings has addressed the court to recheck the cases of 67 convicts.
57 of the convicts were found innocent.
255 individuals who suffered losses under the UNM leadership were returned their properties worth 50 million GEL, including flats, offices, commercial spaces, vineries, swimming complexes, hotels, agricultural lands and others, the Prosecutor’s Office says.
