The Georgian government has presented a bill drafted by the Defence Ministry of Georgia to parliament which expands the power of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defence, allowing the department and its staff to make automatic photo and video recordings.

The devices which will provide photo and video recording will be attached to the inside and outside areas of the Ministry of Defence and its departments, on the vehicles of the ministry and the uniforms of its staff,” reads the bill.

The ministry says that the step will ensure reaction to crime in a timely manner and will help with crime prevention as well.

The bill requires at least 76 votes in the 150-member legislative body to be passed.
