President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Liliane Maury Pasquier has begun meetings with Georgian officials as part of her official visit to Georgia on April 29-30.
She is currently meeting with Georgian Parliament Speaker Irakli Kobakhidze.
The meeting, which is being held behind closed doors, is also being attended by the Head of the Council of Europe office in Georgia, Cristian Urse.
The officials will make a public statement after their meeting.
Later Pasquier will travel to the Tserovani settlement, near the town of Mtskheta, where about 1,500-2,000 inhabitants of the Akhalgori district in eastern Georgia, which is now occupied by Russia, live.
After Tserovani Pasquier will visit the village of Odzisi and will observe the territory adjacent to the administrative boundary line.
In Tbilisi, Pasquier will also meet with President Salome Zurabishvili and Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, Minister of Foreign Affairs Davit Zalkaliani and the Georgian delegation to PACE.
On 30 April, the PACE President will address the Georgian Parliament during a parliamentary session dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Georgia's accession to the Council of Europe.
