The Ministry of Health of Georgia has been awarded a certificate of an exemplary country combating Hepatitis C by the European Association for the Study of the Liver and International Liver Foundation in Austria.
It is a great honor for us to be given...this status. The Hepatitis C elimination programme in Georgia represents the best example of cooperation between private and state sectors, the US Disease Control Center and Gilead company laid the foundation,” Health Minister Sergeenko stated.

He said the wide availability of diagnostic services and the treatment of Hepatitis C significantly decreased the load of the disease in Georgia.
Many countries will learn from our experience since 2015,” David Sergeenko said at the awarding ceremony.
The International Liver Congress opened on April 10 in Vienna.
Georgia’s Ministry of Health and the International Liver Foundation plan to sign a deal of cooperation during the congress.
