New attractions and renovations planned for botanical garden in Tbilisi

One of Tbilisi’s favourite natural parks, the National Botanical Garden of Georgia, will soon offer visitors new adventure routes, cycling and hiking trails and renovations in the Tsavkisistskali River gorge.
Tbilisi City Hall announced the Tsavkisistskali River gorge development project today, which will be completely financed by the Cartu Charity Foundation - a charity fund established and financed by Georgian tycoon and former Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The Tsavkisistskali River gorge is partly located in the National Botanical Garden of Georgia, while the other part is located in the Bath District (Abanotubani) of Tbilisi’s Old Town.
Thanks to the project, the botanical gardens will have an alternate entrance where parking will be arranged. Also, amateur cyclists will be able to ride four kilometers in the beautiful gorge, in the city centre”, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
The arrangement of the adventure route in the Tsavkisistskali River gorge and the use of its potential is one of the recommendations of international experts, which is included in the National Botanical Garden of Georgia development strategy.
Visitors and locals of Georgia's capital Tbilisi can now enjoy the scenery of the city's popular botanical garden from a bird's eye perspective after a zip line running above the park was launched at the location earlier today.
First Japanese garden opens in Tbilisi
The spirit of Japan can now be felt in Georgia after the first Japanese garden opened in capital Tbilisi today.
People living or visiting Georgia’s capital Tbilisi will soon be able to find themselves in a Japanese garden and enjoy the new sights of blooming flowers, traditional Japanese greenery and cherry blossoms.
One of Tbilisi’s favourite natural parks will soon boast a piece of legendary Japanese landscape design as a novelty for visitors that will also aim to highlight the friendly relations between Georgia and Japan.
The Embassy of Japan to Georgia has gifted Japanese cherry (Sakura) saplings to different Georgian universities today. Georgian Minister of Education Mikheil Chkhenkeli, rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), George Shervashidze and Japanese Ambassador to Georgia, Tadaharu Uehara have planted some of the saplings in the inner yard of the 1st building of TSU.
Bicycle lanes and a recreational space have been set up in the Tbilisi Botanical Garden. The new adventure route combines a bicycle lane and various tourist facilities.
