The largest share of gross domestic product (GDP) of Georgia by region was held by the capital city of Tbilisi (50.1%), followed by the regions of Imereti (10%), Adjara (8.9%), Kvemo Kartli (8.2%) and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (6.4%).
Overall, the GDP of Georgia at current prices in 2017 amounted to 37.84 billion GEL, says the regional GDP 2017 adjusted data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
The largest share in the value-added of Tbilisi was held by:
- Trade (27.4%)
- Transport and communication (14.8%)
- Construction (13.7%)
In Imereti the primary sectors included:
- Industry (17.2%)
- Agriculture (12.9%)
- Public administration (12.2%)
Meanwhile in Adjara, which is the third region of Georgia in terms of value-added volume, the main spheres of economic activities were:
- Construction (16%)
- Trade, repair of vehicles, personal and household goods (12.2%)
- Transport and communication (8.8%)
In Kvemo Kartli the following sectors were the strongest:
- Industry (37.2%)
- Agriculture (17.9%)
- Public Administration (7.1%)
