Judicial reforms being carried out by Georgian government have been assessed by the allies at the NATO-Georgia commission held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels yesterday.

The Head of the Analytical Department of the Ministry of Justice Zurab Sanikidze and the head of the International Relations Department of the High Council of Justice Shorena Mezurnishvili have presented a report about government activities in the judiciary system.
The third wave of court reforms in Georgia and the importance of the fourth one were given particular attention at the meeting.
The allies have reaffirmed Georgia's progress in the judicial reform process while also emphasising the importance of it for the country's democratic development.
Over 3,000 juveniles have benefited from juvenile justice reforms which have been carried out in Georgia through the joint efforts of the Georgian Justice Ministry, the EU and UNICEF since 2010.
A top United Nations (UN) official is praising Georgia’s reform progress and encouraging the country to continue along this path and is offering the Georgian Government support to do so.
Amnesty International, a London-based non-governmental organisation focused on human rights, says that the reform of the country’s criminal justice system, including the creation of an independent mechanism to investigate alleged human rights violations by police, should be the top priority of Georgia’s new government.
The Government has approved a proposal to increase the transparency of plea bargaining.
51% of the Georgian population is satisfied with the level of the independence of the judiciary.
