The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the complaints of several Russian citizens living in the Georgian occupied Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) region, who filed against Georgia and claimed that the Georgian Army violated their rights during the  Russia-Georgia 2008 war.

The court discussed three cases in which applicants Khadizat Dzhioyeva, Irina Kachmazova, and Alina Kachmazova [first case], Izolda Kudukhova and Nino Kudukhova [second case] and Klara Naniyeva and Umar Bagayev [third case], all Russian citizens, stating that the activities of the Georgian army in August 2008 put their lives at risk, they were subjected to inhuman treatment and discrimination and their properties were damaged.

They also raised complaints regarding their rights to an effective remedy and right to liberty and security during the armed conflict.

The court was unanimous in declaring the complaints “inadmissible as manifestly ill-founded,” an official statement reads.
