Opposition will hold rally on the inauguration day

Former opposition presidential candidate Grigol Vashadze has stated that the opposition will hold a “peaceful rally” in Telavi on 16 December, where the presidential inauguration ceremony will be held on the day.
Vashadze stated that “no elections” were conducted in Georgia and that the government ignored the demands of the opposition.
There were no elections held in Georgia, it looked like a special operation more than the elections. We have offered a political dialogue to the government, but they rejected our offer that is why we will hold a peaceful rally in Telavi,” Vashadze said.
The opposition have already addressed the court to annul the election results.
During their rally after the 28 November presidential elections, the opposition urged the government to create a working group with the opposition to “find a solution from the current political crisis.”
They gave the government time until 16 December to create the working group, but the government ignored the demand by saying that Georgia has a new president who was recognised to the role by the international community.
The government called upon the opposition to refrain from staging provocations on the inauguration day.
Grigol Vashadze, the opposition candidate in the Georgian presidential elections who lost, will not attend the inauguration ceremony of the new president.
A 30-person commission will be tasked with organising the inauguration ceremony of president-elect Salome Zurabishvili, a decree signed by Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze reads.
Opposition coalition Strength in Unity is protesting the results of the Georgian presidential election which resulted in the victory of pro-government candidate Salome Zurabishvili on Rustaveli Avenue.
The Strength in Unity opposition coalition does not recognise the results of the elections held on November 28 and demands snap parliamentary elections. The Georgian Dream ruling party endorsed presidential candidate Salome Zurabishvili received 59.52 per cent of the vote and became the first woman president elected in Georgia and the region.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has detained a member of the United National Movement opposition, former state official David Kirkitadze for verbally and physically abusing the police and damage of property during the clash between law enforcers and opposition activists on the presidential inauguration day.
